Medicinal Mushrooms & K-9 immunity

February 14, 2012

Sounds funny, right? Well, apparently, certain mushrooms are believed to have anticancer properties. Red Reishi is a favorite of holistic enthusiasts, Shiitake and Maiitake are good. When I first googled this, I got videos of this crazy italian doctor saying that cancer is a fungus. DON’T watch those. They’re crazy.

I can’t claim to understand why a fungus would battle cancerous cells, but apparently it has been ‘known to shrink tumors’. There’s a bit of information available on wikipedia, I think I heard about it first from, which I’m sure you’ve seen if you’ve been googling dog cancer like I have.

I ordered some Red Reishi pills from Amazon, because that was the cheapest place to buy. I also ordered the K9 Immunity from there. It’s made buy Aloha Medicinals. Here’s whats in it

i hope that Lulu gets to be a testament to any of these things. I think it will be hard to tell what we’ve done right if things do go well.  It’s hard to be optimistic when she is so lumpy. I’m afraid that the cancer is causing her to have little tumors all over her body, or am I being the paranoid parent again? Her stomach is so large. It could be weight gain, scar tissue from the splenectomy, or is she just swollen from having blood cancer? I am looking into ‘anti-inflammatory diets’

I’ve done a lot of research on medicinal mushrooms for my dog, Felicia, and I found K-9 Immunity as well as a site called K9 Critical Care. I called both companies for more information, and was far more impressed with K9 Critical Care. They call their products supplements, not treats, which seemed much more professional to me. The owner, Tom, talked to me for a long time about their products, and I read some reviews online, and finally ordered the power pack. So far, it’s worked amazingly! Felicia has outlasted the vet’s six month death sentence, and she is acting like a puppy again! If you’re looking for something to really help your dog, check them out.

    • Thank you! I will definitely check that out! I’m so glad you posted, I really want to be in touch with other people who have researched this and have some more recent information. I find that a lot of the blogs and forums on this are incredibly dated, obviously research in this field is constantly changing, it makes it know which resources are credible and up-to-date. Also, it is so great to hear once again that there are dogs out there beating the odds! Please keep me updated on Felicia’s status. What kind of cancer does she have? We also had a 4-6 month sentence, he said that her health might start failing as soon as 2 months after her splenectomy which would be this week, so I am lying in wait and crossing my fingers. Good to here that your girl is acting like a puppy! Lulu too seems to have a pups energy most of the time, though she is 10 so I do manage to wear her out! How old is Felicia?
